Front Garden

The front garden was only drive, grass and one ornamental cherry tree, having lots of grass wasn’t really working due to the shade of the large trees opposite. The clients were also looking to create more interest leading up to the front door, something to enjoy when they came home or looked out of the living room window.

The shape of the canopy of the cherry tree was used as a starting point. Two oval shapes were used to create the main layout of the garden, one around and underneath the cherry tree and another to shape the remaining lawn. With the remaining space forming more borders. She was was very attached to blues and purples and he really liked warmer colours. From this the planting palette of blues and purples with hints of dark red was created. The planting was chosen to ensure there was year round interest in the garden.

Originally I left a gap in the border to push the lawn mower through but they were enjoying the planting so much that the gap was eventually planted up too.  It became a talking point in the neighbourhood, neighbours would stop and enjoy the garden too and a chat as they walked past.
